Positive Words Challenge - 24 hours

I always thought that I was a positive person. I love making people laugh, giving people compliments, and having a good time. But recently, I decided to just pay more attention to my words. I didn't change anything, just took note of my speech. What did I notice? That I'm not that positive at all. I mean it's kinda sad how many times I complain about a situation, or my short-comings, or my hubby, or even at times my little one (gasp!). Yes, most times my comments are said sarcastically or in jest, but words have power. The bible says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits." Proverbs 18:21, also "Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear." Ephesians 4:29

So I decided to try a 24 hour Positive Words Challenge. For 24 hours, I will speak nothing but positivity. If I have something negative or snarky to say, I'm just going to keep it to myself. I may have to go into an empty room and use some deep breathing techniques. Ya it's that kinda party. The idea is to be more thoughtful about the words we use, rather than spew out nonsense and regret it afterwards. There is a saying, that words are like toothpaste in a tube. Just like words, toothpaste is easy to squeeze out, but nearly impossible to put back in. And all you're left with is a huge mess. #realtalk

There is actually a movie out that is about this premise. Have you heard about the movie "1000 Words"? Eddie Murphy plays this fast talking literary agent, Jack McCall, who tries to scam a New Age guru. But the guru catches on to what Jack is trying to do, so he puts this magical spell on him. Jack soon realizes that there is a huge tree in his backyard, and everytime he says something, a leaf falls off of this tree. He learns that omce all of the leaves fall off of this tree, he and the tree, will die. Interesting huh?

I haven't seen the movie, but I can imagine how it ends. Jack will realize that words have power, and that he should choose words wisely, and be honest with what he says and does. Of course with a lot of mayhem and hijinx in between.

So how do you use your words? Do you think a challenge like this may be helpful? Give it a try and comment about your experience. I'm sure we'll all learn a lot from this exercise. I'll keep you updated on my results!

Fit Mama Club - Week 7

#FitMamaClub

I did a lot better this week with my eating! I started reading about the Paleo Diet again. (I discussed this diet HERE.) I still don't have a new scale yet, so I have no idea whether I gained or lost. I definitely will get one this Friday! Here's my update:

After my update, I'll share this week's Fit Mama Club challenge. If you wanna join up, leave a comment or tweet me @joonluv630.

Last Week's Weight Loss: No clue because I have no scale
Total Weight Loss: Not sure yet
Last Week's High: I got back on track with my eating!
Last Week's Low: I found it hard to say "no" when people offered me treats out of kindness. Such as my hubby making me waffles in bed, or my mom having an impromptu BBQ.. (I'm so glad summer's over by the way. And the overload of BBQs is one of the many reasons.) I also did log my eating into my Fitness Pal app. Tsk tsk tsk!
Plan For This Week: I will continue working on my low carb Paleo Diet eating plan. Which leads to this week's Fit Mama Challenge!

Fit Mama Challenge: Only eat healthy carbs such as fruits and vegetables. Stay away from the bad carbs like white bread, pasta, rice, etc. You can have 3 "open meals" this week, which means you can have some of those carbs.. just don't binge! So c'mon Fit Mamas! Are you up for the challenge?
